The Repechage 2 qualifying match between Tonga and Korea will be played in Auckland, New Zealand on 10 February stadium to be confirmed. The winner of the match will qualify directly for Rugby World Cup 2007 and will join England, South Africa, Samoa and USA in pool A.

Morocco host Portugal on the 20th January in Casablanca. The following week on the 27th they play in Lisbon with the winner going forward to meet Uruguay for the repechage 1 spot in pool’C’ at RWC 2007 in France.

Following Portugal’s loss to Georgia they will now meet Morocco to decide who meets Uruguay. The next round will be the last for one side and a reprieve for the other, although we expect Uruguay to win through against either side and claim the Repechage’1′ spot in pool’C’ for RWC 2007.

Georgia drew 11-11 with Portugal but thanks to their first leg points they win through to France 2007.  Georgia will now face Argentina, France, Ireland and Namibia in pool’D’, a real tough ask with probably their only chance being a win against Namibia.

Japan beat Korea 54-0 to claim their place in RWC 2007 as Asia 1. As expected Japan beat Korea in Hong Kong in a most convincing fashion and now go to France in 2007 taking their place in pool ‘B’ where they will play Australia, Canada, Fiji and Wales.

Japan will now face Korea after they beat Hong Kong 23-5 to decide who goes forward as the Asia 1 representative to RWC 2007.  The good or bad news depending on your viewpoint is the loser will have another chance playing Tonga in Repechage 2. Japan beat Hong Kong by 52-3 to move one step nearer the RWC in France 2007. Next up will be Korea which will be a much harder task for John Kirwan’s team, but one they must pass to claim the place in pool ‘B’ as winners of Asia ‘1′.

Georgia beat Portugal by 17-3 at home. This win gives them the early advantage in the play-off final for Europe’s third automatic qualifying place in France next year. Portugal will need to win in Lisbon on the 25th November by more than 14 points if they are to deny Georgia a place in pool ‘D’.
