Romania beat Spain in Madrid 43-20 to claim the Europe 2 spot in France 2007.  This win takes Romania into Pool ‘C’ along with Italy, New Zealand and Scotland and we expect that they will be joined by Uruguay as Repechage 1.

Romania beat Georgia 20-8 on Saturday in a World Cup qualifier. They now need to beat Spain in Madrid next Saturday to claim a place in Pool C where they will meet New Zealand and Scotland.

Italy’s opponents for the round 5 RWC 2007 qualification starting in October 2006 are becoming clearer. They will play Portugal and either Ukraine or Russia, whilst in pool B Romania will play Georgia and either Spain or the Czech Republic.
