Uruguay convincing winners against Chile

Uruguay convincingly beat Chile in Montevideo and close in on the America 3 spot at RWC 2007. The 43-15 win now means Uruguay known as Los Teros play the loser of the Canada v USA test to be played in Newfoundland on 12 August.

Tonga surpass Cooks and claim Oceania 3

Tonga have beaten the Cook Islands 90-0 and 167-10 on aggregate to progress as Oceania 3. They will now play Asia 2 for the Repechage 2 spot in pool ‘A’. success will put them in against England, South Africa, Samoa and America 3.

Pumas qualify for France 2007

Argentina beat Uruguay 26-0 in Buenos Aires on Saturday. This victory secures the Pumas sixth appearance in the RWC finals in France 2007. They will join hosts France, Ireland, a third European team and the top qualifier from Africa in group D.

African Group ‘B’ hard to call a winner

African Group ‘B’ is very tight at the moment with all three teams with a single win. Tunisia having beaten Kenya in Tunis 24-7 it now means Namibia, Kenya and Tunisia have all won and lost one game, leaving the qualifier hard to call.

African Group ‘A’ finely poised

African Group ‘A’ is nicely poised and hard to predict at this time as Morocco lead the way with a win and a draw ahead of Uganda with a win and a loss and Ivory Coast who have a draw and loss now probably out of contention.

Chester’s Uganda record an important win

After only 3 weeks with the team Chester William’s Uganda swept Ivory Coast aside winning their African qualification match by 32-7. Uganda Cranes playing in front of 2,500 cheering local fans at the Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala showed the Ivory Coast that doing the basics will win you games.

USA to strong for Barbados

Pumas one win from qualification

Argentina Pumas moved a step nearer to qualification as America 1 for France 2007 when they beat Chile away 60-13 in Santiago. The Pumas have continued to maintain their 100% record of victories against South American teams.
