Eden Park to host Semis & Final in 2011
Eden Park prepares for the facelift for 2011.
Eden Park will host both semi finals and the final of the World Cup in 2011. Its capacity is being increased to 60,000 as part of the redevelopment plan but a major consideration for the design team is to keep the ground’s aura of invincibility for the All Blacks.
A concern for those travelling fans will undoubtedly be the capacity which is far short of the 80,000 provided in 2007 by the Stade de France and the Telstra Stadiums 80,000 in Sydney for 2003. We know the game is becoming even more popular so many will be unable to be part of the stadium occasion.
