Security situation in Sri Lanka causes delay to Asia finals

The IRB Executive Committee announced the postponement of the 2006 Asian Rugby Football Tournament that was scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on November 18-25. The decision was taken due to the current security situation in Sri Lanka. As this was part of the Asian qualifying process it means a delay, the IRB will monitor the situation and new dates will be set as soon as possible almost certainly including a change of venue for Asia round 3. Teams affected are: Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Arabian Gulf, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, India and China.
