St-Étienne's Geoffroy Guichard Stadium
The Geoffroy Guichard Stadium is the home of Saint-Étienne football club a side which has been consistently at the top of French football. The city is known as a manufacturing centre of arms and bicycles, it also holds the head office of the distribution firm Casino which should be well known to anyone who has traveled in France.
The stadium is a 36,000 seater which was built in 1931 and modernised in both 1984 for the European Nations Football Cup and in 1998 for the Football World Cup. The modernisation has not taken its character and it is still a venue where the spectators remain close to the action.
St-Etienne will hold three pool games during September Scotland will feature in the first and last on the 9th and 29th with Samoa appearing on the 26th.
